Halloween Tag
We had a spooky, halloween, themed training session today.
Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. We started with a modified warm-up game of North, South, East and West where the boys ran between Rat, hat, broom and bat!
Next up was Zombie tag. I don't know how the un-dead do it! Running without bending your knees is hard work.
My favourite bit was next. The Dragons split into 2 groups and ran relay races which finished by turning 2 of the Mummy's into Mummies! This was accomplished by wrapping them in 8 rolls of the cheapest toilet paper! I thought they looked great.
After a short break the boys played a game of tag rugby. Thanks to Mal and Jess for helping the teams. Everyone played really well.
Finally we had a quiz where correct answers won the boys their sweets.
Well done everyone. See you next week.
Mark.

Training Underhill Park - Sunday 23 October
We had a good training session today in Underhill Park. We played in the afternoon to accommodate the rugby world cup final. We will retun to our usual pre lunch time next week.
We started our training with our usual warm-up (I now need to keep an eye open for Gavin Henson and James Hook!). We then had a couple of games of bulldog with Grant and Nigel tagging.
I started to worry that the Dragons don't have that killer instinct when the boys suggested we play "kissy bears" not huggy bears (which we do to get the boys into groups)! Next up we practised collecting a lose ball from the floor and passing. The final drill was a 1 on 1 game that Grant ran. I liked this game and will play that again.
We finished with a long game of tag rugby. I am really impressed with the Dragons. There was some great running, swerving, passing and tries. The new Dragons Dylan and Jack played some great rugby. Well done boys!
As the All Blacks won the world cup today I though it the right time to teach the Dragons the Welsh Haka. The words can be found on a post lower down the blog.
Next week will be Halloween themed!

Dragons V Gowerton at Bishopston
We played Gowerton at the weekend. It was another good game for the Dragons.
Before the kick-off we practised picking up a rolling ball from the ground, running and passing. The boys are really doing well. Their skills are improving all the time. Ben really impressed me with his passing skills.
In the game itself the dragons boys defended really well. I watched David launch himself through the air to grab a tag and stop Gowerton from scoring! Aedan scored some fantastic tries.
I find it really hard to remember who did what. On the pitch it all happens so quickly with small children everywhere!
Nigel, Rhian and I were impressed with how well the dragons played. They outperformed their coaches! I noticed half way though the game that I had set up the pitch like a square and Nigel made some dubious calls as the referee; which invited heckling from our own parents!
See you next week for more of the same against Pontardulais(on a bigger pitch!).

Morriston and Brynhyfred
The Dragons played 2 games at Morriston today and were fantastic!
They played particularly well in their second game against Brynheyfred. There was some great running, trys and tagging.
Thank you Nigel for coaching the Dragons while I was looking after Holly.
Mums and dads also deserve a mention. You were really cheering the Dragons but importantly applauded the opposition as well. Thank you.
I can't wait for our game next week against Gowerton.
