Mumbles RFC Christmas Party

We had our Christmas Party today. The Junior teams gathered in Underhill Park for some parents V players games. The Dragons were joined by a couple of Ospreys and 3 Vikings players. The resulting team, a bit of cheating and a biased ref meant that they were too strong for the parents! There was, however, some great talent on display by the parents. Player of the week has to be awarded to Rhian Broad (which is handy as the trophy is already in their house!) After the game we went back to the club for a disco, games, presentations and food.

Dragons V Morriston (Away)

We played against Morriston this week. What an improvement. The Dragons displayed some of the passion, commitment and determination that I've been calling for in training. After a poor start my motivational speech appeared to wake the boys up and they played really well. I was very proud. Players who deserve a special mention this week are Sam, Rhys, Lewis and Rhidian. Dexter was injured; receiving a nasty cut behind his ear. Rhidian played out of his skin this week and was awarded tackler of the week. Player of the week was awarded to Lewis who was outstanding. Fantastic play Dragons. We need to keep this going. Mark.

Dragons V Vardre (Home)

The Dragons played better this week against another strong team. Tackler of the week was awarded to Dexter. Rhys won player of the week. Well done Dragons.

Dragons V Gowerton (Home)

We had a good flowing game of rugby today. Gowerton were great. The first half was closely contested but Goweton won convincingly in the second part of the game. We had too many basic handling errors today, did not commit to the ruck and lost easy ball in open play. These are areas that we need to improve upon in training. That said there were also some fantastic moments of play from the Dragons. Well done to Rhys and Dexter who were awarded Player and Tacker of the week.

Dragons V Swansea Uplands (Away)

We had a tough away fixture at Swansea Uplands. The Dragons dominated the first 10 minutes. A couple of trys from Uplands and some decisions that went against us left the Dragons with their heads down. We need to show more spirit and determination than this. There were some good individual performances from the Dragons. Sam was fantastic and Lewis brave after suffering a kick behind his ear. Player of the week was awarded to Dexter who looks like he had his teeth whitened for the occasion!

Dragons V Dunvant (Home)

A close game against Dunvant at home. They won after we let in a couple of soft trys towards the end of the first half. The Dragons fought back and dominated the second half. Well done Dragons. Sam won player of the week. Jack was awarded tackler of the week.

Mixed game with the Mumbles Predators (Under 11's) in Bishopston

Mumbles Mini's teams had a gap in their fixtures so we joined the Predators and had a mixed game. The Dragons coped really well with new rules and bigger players. Thank you Jon and his team. Our boys had a great time and learnt a lot. We would like to do this again. Rhys was awarded tackler of the week.
