Gowerton V Dragons. 22/09/13. Away.

Oh well, we were thrashed! On the bright side the Dragons played really well in the second half. I assume they responded to my excellent motivational talk! Theo did well in his first game and put in some crunching tackles. Rhidian was excellent and was voted player of the the week by the parents. Mark.

Dragons V Dunvant (Home) 15/09/13

The Dragons were brilliant today. They played Dunvant in a game that started in ominous conditions and ended in a full blown monsoon! The game was evenly matched with both teams scoring great trys and putting in plenty of tackles. I think we may have edged a victory today, although I must confess I was not keeping count. Thank you to Dunvant for refereeing the match. It was good to see James again. Everyone played well but Sam was awesome! Keep it up boys. Mark.

Dragons V Morriston......a few more photos!

Dragons V Morriston. Bishopston. 08/09/13.

I was proud of the Dragons today. We were outclassed by a very strong Morriston team but we can be proud of our performance. The Dragons got stuck in and tackled with enthusiasm. There are areas that we need to improve. The Dragons need to spread out and use the space available on the pitch. We also need to make sure we keep moving forward and not run backwards! We will work on this in training. Thank you Grant for refereeing our game. Well done Dragons. Mark.

New Season. 2013-14

The new season is about to start. We hope that you had a good summer. The first event of the season is the Mumbles RFC three day festival of rugby in Underhill Park. Starting on Saturday 24th August Mumbles 1st XV face Swansea RFC as part of the clubs 125 year celebrations. On Sunday 25 August it's the annual Cracker 7's. On Monday 26th August it's the family fun day and minis rugby tournament. Our fist training session will be Thursday 5 September in Whitestone school at 18:00. The first game of the new season is at home (Bishopston leisure centre) on 8 September against Moriston. All fixtures are shown on the right hand side of the blog. This will be our first year of contact rugby so I suggest that the kids wear head guards and Gum Shields. You can get these, at a reasonable price, from Sports Direct and Pictons Sports in Llanelli.

Dragons V Fall Bay (Away) 3/3/13

Brrr! It was cold in Scurlage today! The Dragons played really well. It was a massive improvement on last weeks game. There was some fantastic runs, try's and defensive play. Dexter and Rhidian deserve a special mention. Dexter scored some great trys running the whole length of the field. Rhidian was on fire with his tagging. Well done all of you you were great. See you at training on Thursday. Mark.

Training. Caswell. 3 February.

Rain prevented us from playing at Bishopston so we waited for the tide to go out and trained at Caswell instead. We worked on tackling ready for next year. We did our usual drills and games but the Dragons had to tackle. They love it! The rugby game at the end was brilliant. Lots of tackles and passes. Well done boys. Mark.

Training. Caswell Beach. Tackling Practise.

Sorry for the mix up with the fixtures. We found ourself without a game last Sunday so took the opportunity to train on the beach as Caswell. Wow it was fresh! Andrew joined us and introduced the boys to tackling. They all did brilliantly. We finished with a game of contact rugby at the end. Run of the day goes to Roan. Tackle of the day belongs to Dexter who took him out like an All Black! More of the same this Sunday as there is an opportunity to practice with Andrew again. Mark.
