New Rules for 2015-16 Season
There are quite a few rule changes that will apply this year. A summary of the rules is located on the right hand side of the Blog page. We will be explaining the new rules to the team in our training sessions and before games but it would be helpful if you could also take some time to explain these to your Dragon at home. Thanks. Mark.
Fixtures and Training Details
I have updated the fixtures list for the 2015 / 16 Season. They can be found on the right hand side of the Blog Page. We are going to try holding our weekly training on WEDNESDAY evenings. We hope this will suit more of you and it avoids a clash with Swansea Schools Training. Training sessions will still be held at Whitestone Primary School from 18:30 - 19:30 until the nights draw in. We will then move to Underhill Park where we can use the floodlights. Our first training session will take place on 2 September. Our first game is on 6 September, away, against Fall Bay. Mark.
Our Finances
Just a brief note about our finances. We start the 2015 / 16 season with £569.20 in our bank account. Subs this year will remain the same as previous years. We ask for £42 from each player. £10 Goes to Mumbles RFC and pays for club membership. We keep the rest which is used to pay for equipment, indoor training, parties and rugby gear. If you are new to the team try out the rugby and see if you like it. If you want to stay with us we will ask you to contribute as well, but only when you are ready. The easiest way to pay is by Direct Debit. This works out at just £3.50 a month; What a bargain! Thank you for your support. Mark.

Dragons trip to Nandos and the Liberty Stadium. Ospreys V Leinster.
The Dragons met for dinner at Nandos. Whilst there we celebrated Rhidian's birthday. After that we went to the Liberty Stadium to watch the Ospreys play. The Dragons were 'bench warmers' for the Ospreys. We were able to sit in their dugout watching the players warm-up. Thank you Nigel for arranging such a unique event. As you can see from the photos the boys had a great time. Mark.
Dragons V Gorseinon (Home). 22 February 2015.
The Dragons had difficult game against Gorseinon on Sunday. The main factor appeared to be the weather......which was awful! Gorseinon led the game at half time but had been closely matched by the Dragons. The second half was completely dominated by Gorseinon. The game finished with players, parents and coaches scurrying for shelter. It had been wet, extremely cold and miserable! There are issues for us to work on in training. Mark.

Joining our team
If you are visiting the blog because you are interested in joining our team I thought you may like some information about us.
The Mumbles Dragons are a great little team. Our current age group is under 10’s which caters for boys and girls in year 5. We are part of Mumbles RFC a club with great heritage and an exciting future as we plan to build new pitches and an amazing club house in Underhill Park. Our team has many original players who started when they were just 6 years old. Unfortunately some of our team stopped playing rugby at the start of this season because of other
commitments. This is why we are trying to recruit.
We train every Thursday evening in Underhill Park, Mumbles at 18:30. Games are held on Sunday mornings. There are hundreds of photographs on our blog that show the team in action.
There won’t be any charge for new players this season. If you stay with us our subs are just £3.50 a month if you pay by direct debit. We will provide a team jersey and socks. The kit required is basic. You will need a pair of rugby boots and a gum shield (available from stores such as Sports Direct).
If you would like to try rugby and meet the team it would be great to see you. Give me a call on 07468 742 631 or send me an email sabine22@ntlworld.com. Thanks for your interest. Mark.
Ospreys V Leinster. 'Bench Warmers' and Team Meal. 27/02/15
Nigel has organised for our team to be ‘bench warmers’ at the Ospreys V Leinster game on 27/02/15.
The Dragons will sit on the Liberty Stadium players benches as both teams warm up. There will be an opportunity to meet the players. Just before kick off we will move into the stands to watch the game.
We will pay for all the Dragons. Adult tickets will be £15. Additional children’s tickets are £4. Season ticket holders go free but will need to swap seats so we can sit together as a group. Tickets include a free £5 Nando’s voucher.
We plan to pre book our meals and meet at Nando’s at 17:00 before the game.
Please let me know if you want tickets. Mark.
Dragons V Waunarlwydd. Home.
We had a great game against Waunarlwydd. This was a major step forward for us as a team as the Dragons completely dominated the game. Every single player was excellent today and the difference in the quality of our play was striking. For the first time player of the week was awarded to the whole team. You were all fantastic Dragons, well done. Mark.

Dragons V Llangennech and Dunvant (Away)
The Dragons were playing away from home today, hosted by Dunvant. It was a cold but clear day.
We played 15 minutes against Llangennech. The boys did well scoring first but the game slipped away from us.
Next up were Dunvant. After a slow start, and another motivational talk from the coaches, the Dragons got back into the game. Both sides were evenly matched and this was great to watch. Everyone from Mumbles, mums, dads and coaches were really impressed with how well the Dragons played. This is what we need every week; playing with commitment and belief.
Choosing player of the week was difficult for two reasons: everyone played really well and Lewis still has the trophy! Our remaining trophy will be shared by Sam and Jack for their fantastic play today. Well done Dragons. Mark.
