New Season. 2013-14
The new season is about to start. We hope that you had a good summer.
The first event of the season is the Mumbles RFC three day festival of rugby in Underhill Park. Starting on Saturday 24th August Mumbles 1st XV face Swansea RFC as part of the clubs 125 year celebrations. On Sunday 25 August it's the annual Cracker 7's. On Monday 26th August it's the family fun day and minis rugby tournament.
Our fist training session will be Thursday 5 September in Whitestone school at 18:00.
The first game of the new season is at home (Bishopston leisure centre) on 8 September against Moriston.
All fixtures are shown on the right hand side of the blog.
This will be our first year of contact rugby so I suggest that the kids wear head guards and Gum Shields. You can get these, at a reasonable price, from Sports Direct and Pictons Sports in Llanelli.

Training. Caswell. 3 February.
Rain prevented us from playing at Bishopston so we waited for the tide to go out and trained at Caswell instead. We worked on tackling ready for next year. We did our usual drills and games but the Dragons had to tackle. They love it! The rugby game at the end was brilliant. Lots of tackles and passes. Well done boys.

Training. Caswell Beach. Tackling Practise.
Sorry for the mix up with the fixtures. We found ourself without a game last Sunday so took the opportunity to train on the beach as Caswell. Wow it was fresh! Andrew joined us and introduced the boys to tackling. They all did brilliantly. We finished with a game of contact rugby at the end. Run of the day goes to Roan. Tackle of the day belongs to Dexter who took him out like an All Black! More of the same this Sunday as there is an opportunity to practice with Andrew again. Mark.

Christmas Party. Rugby Club. 19/12/12. 18:00-18:30 start.
We will be holding a Christmas Party for the Dragons in the Rugby Club this Wednesday(19/12/12). Please arrive between 6 and 6:30pm.
I really need your help! Please, please can I have volunteers for the following: Party Games and music (suitable, no hardcore drum and bass!).
Please can you also chose an item of food to bring to the party. Add a comment on this blog post so that everyone else know what you are bringing so we don't end up with 12 plates of Pizza (although that would be no bad thing!).
Can I suggest the following (feel free to chose something different): Mince Pies for mums and dads, pizza, sausage rolls, crisps, sandwiches (we will will need more than one plate), cakes and biscuits.
There will be presents for the Dragons!
Thanks for your help.
Mark.

Dragons V Gorseinon. (Home). 09/12/12. 10:45
We had a great game against Gorseinon last week. Both teams were evenly matched. Both Gorseinon and Mumbles played some great rugby facilitated by an excellent referee! I have a new found respect for Nigel Owen after last weeks game. Fancy being heckled from the side lines by your own parents! I don't have any pictures as I forgot to take my camera.

Dragons V Loughor (Home)
We had a tough game against Loughor last Sunday. The boys played really well especially in the 2nd and third part of the game. Sorry for the delay in putting the pictures on the Blog. Dexter lost his Swansea city coat. If you took it home by mistake please can you let me know. Mark.

Dragons V Swansea Uplands. Away. Llandarcy.
We had another really good game against one of the toughest (and biggest!) teams in our area. It was great to play on the fantastic 3G pitch in Llandarcy. Ben scored two trys today! Exponential improvement should mean that he is scoring over 100 points a game by the end of the season! Great play by all the boys today. Well done. Mark.

Dragons V Pontyberm and Hendy (Away). 18/11/12
The Dragons played 2 games today against Hendy and Pontyberm. Whilst our defensive play still needs a bit of work there was some great rugby today. The boys scored some very impressive trys. I think Ben scored his fist in a game; running the whole length of the pitch with fantastic support by Jack. Dexter was on fire today with great swerving. We saw the 'Rhidian shuffle' a few times!, Luca Rhys, Aedan, James, Will and Joe you were fantastic. Well done boys. Mark.

Dragons V Vardre. Away. 11/11/12
I was really proud of the Dragons today. The boys put their arms around each others shoulders and stood absolutely still as everyone observed a minutes silence. They also played really well. Vardre thrashed us last time we played them but despite having just 7 players (and Will was ill) they were their equals today. The Dragons held their defensive line well. Restarts were great. The Dragons were planning how to start the game as they walked back to the half way line just as we have discussed in training. There were passes before tags and swift offloads leading to trys. Absolutely fantastic! Well done boys. Mark.
