Home game against Bridgend. Sunday 18 September.

We played against Bridgend Athletic on Sunday 18 September.

I was really proud of the Dragons. They played really well in awful weather conditions. No one complained and they got stuck in and had a good time. There was some great defending and attacking.

Our new team mate Dylan joined in and played really well.

After the game we all went back to the club for hot dogs. Thank you all for your support. We want to show that the junior teams make use of the club. This Sunday it was packed.

Well done Dragons. See you next week.

We will be going back to the rugby club after the game for free hot-dogs. Please bring a change of clothes and shoes for the kids.

Training Sunday 11 September

We had a great little training session on Sunday 11 September.

Sorry I was a bit late. I wish that I could use the Wales game as an excuse but I had been decorating! Thank you Nigel for keeping the Dragons occupied.

The Dragons played bulldogs with gusto! Rhidian deserves a special mention as he won both games with some fantastic running and swerving. Morgan did some great tagging.

In the tag game at the end Jac and Ben scored some great tries.

The Mumbles coaches are trying to arrange a game against Bridgend for next weekend. Players need to be registered with the WRU. Please send me your membership cards ASAP. Give me a call if you need my address (07767 480 618 / 01792 417 185).

First Game of the Season

The Dragons played their first game of the season against a strong South Gower team on Sunday 4 September.

I like to think that 'rugby was the winner' It certainly wasn't us! That said the team all enjoyed themselves and looked fantastic in their socks and jerseys.

Nigel and I were very proud. Well done boys! Hope you like the photos.

Even more photos form Ospreys V Russia!

More pictures from our trip to the Liberty Stadium

On the pitch at the Liberty Stadium

Had a fantastic day today. Players from the Dragons and Vikings formed the 'guard of honour' at the Liberty Stadium. Our little ruby stars welcomed the Ospreys and Russian teams onto the pitch waving flags. This was an amazing experience!

We also had a great time meeting the Ospreys and playing on the bouncy castles and a giant rugby ball buckaroo!

Rugby Fun Day

On 27 August Mumbles Rugby Club will be holding a rugby fun day in Underhill Park as part of the Cracker 7's weekend.

The minis and junior teams will be playing a series of games against Gowerton. There will be stalls, BBQ, beer tent, games, bouncy castle etc. Last years event was friendly and really good fun. The photo shows the Predators and Dragons players (David and Rhys) with visiting Ospreys players.

The Dragons will be playing their first game of the season against Gowerton under 7's. Please arrive by 11am so that we can prepare for our game. I will be handing out jerseys and socks to the Dragons.

To play for the Dragons this seasons players need to be 6 or over on 1 September 2011. If you have not yet done so please complete the WRU registration forms (including photographs) and bring these with you.

Thursday, 18 August 2011

If your children would like to play for the Dragons this season please complete and return their WRU registration forms to me as soon as possible. This covers personal injury insurance for the year.

Registration forms were handed out at the last training session in May. Please send the forms to my home. My address is on the bottom of the newsletter. Please give me a call if you need a new form or have lost my address. My mobile number is 07767 480618.

PLAYERS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE UNLESS I HAVE COMPLETED REGISTRATION FORMS

In common with the other junior teams I would like your children to become members of Mumbles Rugby Club. Membership is £42 a year. This is due by 1 September. Mumbles Dragons keep most of the registration money. We will use this to purchase training equipment and provide the players with their team clothing. £10 of the fee goes to Mumbles Rugby Club. If you have any problems with the registration fees please contact me in strict confidence. I don't want money to stop the kids from playing.

Ospreys Guard of Honour

Lewis, David, Aedan, Rhys, Will, Jack, Max and Sam will be part of the 'guard of honour' at this Sundays Ospreys V Russia match in the Liberty Stadium.

Please meet Grant and I between 12-12:30pm outside ticket office or until around 2pm in the 'fun village' - (We need to take our seats by 2.30pm latest) so we can hand out the kids and adult tickets.

The Dragons need to wear trainers and navy shorts. I will bring jerseys and socks. We will get the flags at 2:45pm and will be on the pitch to welcome the players.

I can't wait! Thank you Grant for organising this.

Sunday, 13 March 2011

Because of the high tides we played at Bishopston this week with the older tag teams. The weather was fantastic.

David won the bulldog game and scored a great try to finish.

We split into 4 groups and practiced the 'tag and pass' sequence. Will, Oliver Sam and Luca really impressed me with their passing skills.

The relay race was good fun. The Dragons passing and catching was great. Well done.

The Dragons finished by playing their first match. We joined the Mumbles Predators and played in 2 games. Nigel Grant and I were really proud of how well everyone played.

A few parents have asked if they should get 'togs' (rugby or football boots). I think it's a good idea. The kids love them. We will be playing on the grass again this year. You can get a really good quality pair for a reasonable price in discount sports shops such as Sports Direct in town.

Nigel found a child's Fat Face coat. He will bring this next week.

Well done Dragons you were great!

See you on the beach next week. We will return to Bishopston on 27 March.

Nigel, Grant and Mark.

Saturday, 12 March 2011

There is a high tide this week so we need to find an alternative training venue.

I am sorry for the short notice, but I have been working in North Wales this week.

We will be playing this Sunday (13 March) at Bishopston sports centre fields. Enter SA3 3JP into a Sat Nav / Google or call me for directions.

The rugby will be on grass so the Dragons are likely to be muddy at the end of the session.

We will be able to go to the rubgy club for Hot Dogs this week. If you are interested please make sure you bring a change of shoes clothes so we don't take muddy kids into the club.

See you on Sunday,

Mark.
